Your designs stay on your computer.

PraxisCAD runs on your Mac or Windows PC. Your parts, assemblies and drawings are files on your disk, and the app never uploads them. Here is exactly what that means.

What stays local

  • Your models, sketches, drawings, imported STEP and DXF files, and exports are stored only where you save them.
  • CAD calculations run on your computer. There is no cloud modelling service.
  • PraxisCAD works offline and needs no account to design.
  • PraxisCAD does not call any AI service and does not resell AI usage. It has no AI of its own that sees your designs.
  • The link between your AI client and PraxisCAD stays on your computer, is protected by a token and opens no network port.

What the app contacts the network for

  • Update and version checks. At startup and periodically, the app asks our backend whether your version is current. The request contains your platform (for example macOS Apple silicon), the app version and the update channel. It contains no design data. If you are offline, the app simply carries on.
  • Optional sign-in. You can sign in with Google, but you never have to. When signed in, your sign-in token is kept in the operating system's credential store (Keychain or Credential Manager), and the app also sends your app version and platform so your profile shows what you run.
  • Installing updates. If you choose to install an update, the app downloads it from our download server. Nothing is installed without your click.

Your AI client is separate

You choose which AI client drives PraxisCAD. A cloud-based client may send your prompts and the results of tool calls (for example sizes, volumes and rendered images) to its provider, under that provider's own terms. Its privacy policy and settings apply. If you want nothing to leave your machine, use a local model. See Use PraxisCAD with a local LLM.

Bug reports are your choice

Newer versions let your AI client draft a bug report and open your mail app. The draft is addressed tosupport@praxiscad.com, you read it, and you decide whether to send it. Model or file details are only included if you agree.

This website

This site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and requires no account. The download and release pages request public release information from our download server. Our hosting and download infrastructure processes information needed to serve requests, such as an IP address and the requested file. We do not use it for advertising or visitor profiling.
